Family Support

Salt Lake City School District is dedicated not only to the academic success of our students but also to the well-being of our families. By providing comprehensive support services, including community learning centers and easy access to health clinics, the district ensures that students and their families have access to essential resources that promote overall well-being and support academic achievement.

The district operates three community learning centers that serve as hubs of support and enrichment for students and their families. These centers offer a wide range of services, including tutoring, after-school programs, adult education classes, food pantries, and family engagement activities. By fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, these centers help strengthen family bonds and encourage lifelong learning.

Understanding that healthy students are better learners, we partner with Intermountain Health, Friends for Sight, the Noorda Foundation, and others to provide on-site medical, dental, and vision clinics to ensure that students have access to essential healthcare services. Our community learning center clinics address a variety of health needs, from routine check-ups to emergency care, helping to keep students healthy and ready to learn. The availability of these services within the district ensures that healthcare is accessible and convenient for all families.

In a pioneering move, the district established Utah’s first school-based health clinic at West High School. This innovative clinic provides students with immediate access to both physical and mental health services without the need to leave campus. By addressing health concerns promptly, the clinic helps reduce absenteeism and ensures students can focus on their studies. This model of integrated healthcare within the school setting has set a precedent for other districts to follow.
