Update: Status of Design Process - July 1, 2025
The schematic drawings are nearly finished, with the latest update showing they should be complete by the start of school in August.

West High School
School rebuilds happen in phases, and right now, we’re still in the planning and design phase with each school. The new schools will include secure entrances, flexible learning spaces, and modern facilities that support how students learn today. These aren’t just upgrades; they’re long-term investments in safety, structural strength, and high-quality education. We hope to share design visuals with our community sometime this fall.
We have not yet hired the teams and contractors who will physically build the schools. Because of that, specific construction timelines aren’t finalized yet and will evolve as we bring on construction partners. The projects are expected to go out to bid in January 2026.

Update: Shared Classroom Model - May 21, 2025
The new West High School will include a modern shared classroom model, where classrooms are used by different teachers throughout the day.

District leaders and construction supervisors meet weekly with the architects designing West High School to review design ideas and address the many needs that come with building new high schools.

The Board of Education approved one of two site options for the West High School rebuild.

Hughes General Contractors has been selected as the general contractor to rebuild West High School.

Update: Architects Selected - January 28, 2025
VCBO Architecture, the firm that completed the feasibility study for West High School, is currently working on the final design for the new West High.
